Child and Youth Care Centre
Jehovah Jireh Mustard Seed Child and Youth Care Centre is a non-profit organisation registered with the South African Department of Social Development as a Child and Youth Care Centre providing full residential care to 65 abandoned, abused, neglected or orhaned children placed in our care by the Court in terms of the Children's Act 38 of 2005. The Centre at present receives no government funding and is dependent on private donors through Jehovah Jireh USA and Landmark Church.
Donna Moses Christian Preschool
Donna Moses Christian Preschool is an Early Childhood Development Centre registered with the Department of Basic Education, established in memory of the late Donna Moses. The centre provides Christian-based early education programmes to children between the ages of 3 and 6 residing at Jehovah Jireh Child and Youth Care Centre. The Centre also relies on private funding only.
Private Christian School
Jehovah Jireh Private Christian School is a registered non-profit organisation, established to provide Christian Education to children residing at Jehovah Jireh Child and Youth Care Centre. The school provides education through the Accelerated Christian Education curriculum, which allows learners to progress at their own pace, and is recognised by the South African Department of Education.
Independent Living
The Children's Act 38 of 2005 stipulates that children who have reached the age of 18 and have completed Grade 12 are no longer permitted to be accommodated in a Child and Youth Care Centre. It is often the case that these young adults then find themselves without refuge or income. To overcome this challenge Jehovah Jireh launched the Jehovah Jireh Independent Living programme to provide accommodation, meals, clothing and support to these young people while they are completing their further studies and undergoing training, support them while they are seeking employment and also providing training, guidance and councelling as they transition from the care of the Child and Youth Care Centre into the adult life and becoming independent.

Jehovah Jireh Mustard Seed projects in South Africa and Their Impact on the Children We Serve
Background: A Ministry Born From Compassion and Calling

Scott and Michelle Johnson founded Jehovah Jireh in 2018 with a simple yet profound vision: to provide a place of safety, healing, and hope for vulnerable children in Qwa-Qwa who had suffered abandonment, abuse, neglect, or the loss of parents. Over time, this vision grew into a comprehensive, Christ-centred support system that walks with a child from early childhood all the way into independent adulthood.

Each ministry under Jehovah Jireh meets a specific need in a child’s journey—physical, educational, emotional, spiritual, and developmental. Together, they create a seamless pathway of care unlike anything available to most children in South Africa’s vulnerable communities.

1. Jehovah Jireh Mustard Seed Child & Youth Care Centre (CYCC)

A safe home for 65 vulnerable children

The CYCC is the foundation of all Jehovah Jireh ministries. It provides full-time residential care for children placed by the courts in terms of the Children’s Act 38 of 2005. Here, children receive:

Shelter, food, clothing, and nurturing care

Protection from abuse and neglect

Daily routines that promote stability

Emotional and spiritual support

Access to schooling and healthcare

For many children, this is the first place where they feel safe, loved, and valued. The CYCC becomes their home—and the staff their family.

2. Donna Moses Christian Preschool

Early childhood development for ages 3–6

Located on the Jehovah Jireh Christian campus, this preschool prepares children emotionally, academically, and spiritually for formal schooling. It offers:

A Christian-based early learning curriculum

Play-based development

Early literacy and numeracy

Trauma-sensitive care

Social and emotional growth

This preschool creates the foundation for future learning. Many children arrive with developmental delays caused by trauma or instability; Donna Moses Christian Preschool helps them catch up and thrive.

3. Jehovah Jireh Private Christian School (Opening January 2027)

A Christ-centred primary school built for the children of Jehovah Jireh

Beginning with Grade 1 in 2027, the school will grow year by year as the children advance. The school ensures:

Continuity of education within a safe and familiar environment

A biblical worldview woven into every subject

Small classes and personalised academic support

Daily discipleship and mentoring

Trauma-informed teaching

Stability for children who previously faced instability

This ensures that children who grow up at Jehovah Jireh never have to be uprooted or placed in environments where they feel unsafe or misunderstood.

4. Skills Development & Sustainability Projects

Building confidence, capability, and long-term stability

To empower young people and strengthen the ministry's sustainability, Jehovah Jireh operates several hands-on training programmes:

Agricultural Projects

Vegetable gardens

Poultry farming

These projects supplement food costs, teach responsibility, and equip children and youth with practical agricultural skills.

Skills Workshops

Carpentry

Tailoring and sewing

Maintenance and practical trades

These workshops prepare children and school-leavers for real-world employment or entrepreneurship while supporting the ministry’s long-term economic resilience.

5. Jehovah Jireh Independent Living Programme

Supporting youth 18+ as they transition to adulthood

According to the Children’s Act, once a child in a CYCC turns 18 and completes Grade 12, they must exit the system. For most youths, this is a sudden and devastating transition—without family, financial support, or a home.

The Jehovah Jireh Independent Living Programme bridges this gap by providing:

Accommodation

Meals and clothing

Transport and study support

Counselling and mentorship

Life-skills and financial literacy training

Assistance with job seeking and further education

This programme ensures that no young adult from Jehovah Jireh is left vulnerable or alone after leaving care. They are supported until they can stand confidently on their own.
