About Us

Jehovah Jireh Mustard Seed Child and Youth Care Centre (JJMS) is a registered non-profit organisation with the South African Department of Social Development. We provide full residential care to 65 abandoned, abused, neglected, or orphaned children who are placed in our care through the Courts in terms of the Children’s Act 38 of 2005.

Despite the critical nature of our work, the Centre currently receives no government funding. We rely entirely on the generosity of private donors and international partners such as Jehovah Jireh USA and Landmark Church.

Our home serves children from across the Maluti-a-Phofung region, an area affected by high poverty levels and limited social support structures. JJMS exists to provide safety, stability, education, and the hope of a brighter future.

Our Mission

To provide a loving, safe, and spiritually nurturing environment that equips vulnerable children with education, life skills, and emotional support so that they may grow into confident, capable, and productive adults.

Our Vision

To be a beacon of hope and transformation for vulnerable children in Qwa-Qwa and beyond.

What We Do

1. Residential Care

We provide full-time accommodation, clothing, nutritious meals, and daily routines that create stability for children who cannot live at home due to abuse, neglect, abandonment, or orphanhood.

2.
Education Support

School enrollment

Uniforms and stationery

Tutoring and after-school homework support

Access to learning materials and academic guidance

3.
Health, Wellness & Counselling

Medical and dental check-ups

Emotional and trauma counselling

Hygiene support and personal wellbeing programmes

4.
Life Skills & Vocational Training

We equip children—especially teenagers—with practical skills such as:

Basic farming and gardening

Computer literacy

Household management

Small-scale vocational activities

These skills prepare them for adulthood and future employment opportunities.

5.
Family Reintegration

Where it is safe and appropriate, we work with social workers to trace families and support the careful reintegration of children back into their communities.

Why Our Work Matters

Qwa-Qwa is part of the Maluti-a-Phofung municipality, a region facing extreme poverty, unemployment, and significant social challenges. Many children in the area experience abuse, neglect, abandonment, or instability.

Facilities like JJMS play a critical role in:

Reducing child homelessness

Preventing further abuse and trauma

Providing consistent education

Creating emotional and psychological stability

Giving children hope and dignity

Our centre stands as a vital support structure in a community where resources are scarce and needs are great.

Governance & Legal Status

JJMS is a registered Child and Youth Care Centre (CYCC) under the Children’s Act 38 of 2005.

We operate with a formal constitution and management structure, as required by South African non-profit regulations.

Our governance framework ensures transparency, accountability, and the protection of every child under our care.

Annual reporting, oversight, and recordkeeping are maintained to ensure compliance with national standards.

Our Current Needs

Because JJMS receives no government support, our sustainability relies entirely on donations and partnerships. Our urgent needs include:

Operational Costs

Food for 65 children

Salaries for caregivers and support staff

School fees and transport

Medical care and counselling

Infrastructure & Household Needs

Bedding and mattresses

Toiletries

School uniforms

Clothing and shoes

Development Projects

Expansion of vegetable gardens

Poultry projects and income-generation activities

Vocational training equipment

Your support directly impacts the wellbeing and future of every child in our home.
